Founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi, Nintendo originally produced hand-crafted playing cards. By the early 1960s the company had tried several other ventures including a taxi company and a love hotel!
Nintendo first ventured into the video game industry in the 1970s. By the early 1980s they were pioneering their classic game and watch hand-held games and introducing us to iconic characters such as Donkey Kong and the Super Mario Bros. Game Boy, NES, and SNES followed. Nintendo continue to pioneer and make products for the electronic games industry today.
