“America’s Movable Fighting Man”

G.I. Joe was first marketed by Hasbro in 1964 as a 12 inch (30 cm) scale posable action figure, then later again in 1982 as a 3.75 inch (9.5 cm) scale figure. In the UK the toy was sold by the Palitoy company as ‘Action Man’ (12 inch) and ‘Action Force’ (3.75 inch).

TVTA is pleased to present scans for G.I. Joe figures, clothing, accessories and vehicles from the 1964 and 1965 Hasbro catalogues, the G.I. Joe Army Manual, and the G.I. Joe Club.

My First Barbie

Presenting, my first Barbie…

and a wonderful addition to TVTA’s toy collection – California Barbie, 1987.

My California Barbie came mint in her original European-issue box. The contents include Barbie, her accessories and paperwork, a catalogue, a mini comic, and a Beach Boys flexi-disc record: Living Doll, Brother Records, 1987. 

Barbie seemed more than pleased to join the other toys here at TVTA Towers…

But you should have seen her face when I told her I’d bought her a gift…

Her very own wheels… the California Barbie Dune Buggy!

Never one to miss a good photo opportunity, Barbie couldn’t wait to strike some poses…

The latest addition to TVTA’s View-Master collection is this lovely 1978 Mickey Mouse 50th anniversary gift set.

The three stories included are: “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, “Mickey And The Beanstalk” and “Mickey’s Delayed Date”.

These stories were also made available in 1978 on a blister pack titled “Mickey Mouse Jubilee”.

Curve Huggers by Tyco

Curve Huggers was a slot car racing track system sold by Tyco Industries. Popular in the 1970s, Curve Hugger cars were available with working lights and came in a number of different racing models. Track sets included the Laguna 2-in-1 Pro Racing, Nite-Glow Electric Racing, Tyco Championship 1000 – offering an enormous 37 feet of racing action, and the Road Race Empire – offering a whopping 54 feet of track action! Below are two US print adverts showing the Silver Streak and HP2 line of vehicles.
