Greetings vintage mates! Presenting: eight vintage adverts from French comic Pif Gadget. I was particularly pleased to get my hands on the Barbie ‘Birthday’ advert with art by the illustrator Mezza who designed a good deal of late 70s and early 80s Barbie adverts, and, despite my online searches, I still can’t find any info about.
The Action Man advert was also a treat to discover (known as Action Joe in France, and GI Joe in the US where the toy originated in 1964). Eagle-eyed readers will spot the popular ‘Eagle-Eye Action Man’ features on the below advert – quite an innovation for those of us who lovingly played with these toys back in the day.

Goldorak is; a Japanese super robot, UFO Robot Grendizer (ＵＦＯロボ グレンダイザー, Yūfō Robo Gurendaizā), a Shogun, a Shogun Warrior, mecha, a Japanese animation… Goldorak is Grandizer, Goldrake… Goldorak is toys, records, comics… Goldorak is huge in France! Goldorak is… super cool robot!

For some reason my Bburago posts are always a bit left field, and what a title! But I mean, what’s not to love about these wonderful 1990s die-cast toy car images… brought to you via catalogues from the Italian manufacturer Bburago and lovingly scanned by your humble TVTA editor. We ain’t no fools, sucker!
Bburago was founded by brothers Mario, Ugo, and Martino Besana in 1976. Hailing from the town of Burago in their native Italy, they combined the letter “B” of Burago with the initial “B” of their family surname to create Bburago.
