Airfix – join the club

I’m pleased to add these five new UK ads for leading model kit producer Airfix. The adverts, from 1982 and 1983, promote some of the kits available at the time as well as the Airfix Modellers Club. The final ad is a Boots the chemist promotion offering a 25% seasonal discount.

You can see my main Airfix post here containing a number of International adverts.

AIRFIX… a Hungarian refugee’s vision of tyres, combs and model toys

British company Airfix began producing model kits for the mass market in 1952. The company produced a wide range of kits aimed at all types of scale modellers. Themes and subjects included military aircraft, civil aircraft, ships, galleons, cars, space, figures, dioramas and military vehicles.

Airfix was founded in 1939 by Nicholas Kove, a refugee from Hungary who originally manufactured rubber inflated tyres.
