Welcome to part 16 of TVTA’s series Never Mind The Adverts… Here Are The Toys!
Featuring: Judge Dredd Mega Heroes, by Mattel
In 1995, Mattel released a series of multi-pack action figures based on Judge Dredd characters from the British comic 2000 AD. The semi-articulated figures, which stand at around 2 to 3 inches (7 – 12 cm approx), come with an impressive amount of colour and detail, and were launched to coincide with the summer blockbuster film Judge Dredd, starring Sylvester Stallone and Diane Lane.
TVTA is pleased to present maximum thrill power images of the full 1995 loose set, including the impressively zarjaz ABC Robot, and Judge Dredd’s Lawmaster MK IV bike!
Thank you for going quietly to your Iso-Cube with us 🙂
saw the movie, but never heard of theses toys!

Although the movie wasn’t great, these action figure sets of Judge Dredd are really cool! 🙂

Agree. For such small figures they pack a lot of detail.

Thanks for sharing my friend, I’ve never personally seen any of those Mattel JD figures before. And I concur with the first commenter about the Stallone Dredd movie, apart from the Angel gang (who were actually rather great in it!) it’s rather terrible, but at least we’ve had the great Urban movie to wash away the memory of the former! 🙂

You’re right. Thank goodness for the Urban film!

Hi TVTA, Ah….I AM the Loooar! (Law!) Great collection of figures but I have to say I can’t help but see the Michael Jackson video for Beat It when I saw the “Mutant and Ugly Pugley” and the “Go Ahead Punks” picture you posted!
One final point I’d like to make, why does the Block War Dredd armour look more protective than the Riot Armour Dredd outfit? Thanks as always!

Adriannne!!!
Ha, yes, I can see a bit of a Jacko vibe going on now you mention.
A to your Q: Block War armor should always be of maximum protection – as the inhabitants of blocks in conflict with one another can become somewhat partisan to the extreme, and this makes your average street riot seem like a picnic in the park!

Ah OK, it just seemed to me the Riot Armour was a little less effective looking…but then I guess a war is more violent than a riot! I forgot how big, sprawling and dangerous the city blocks were in Delta City!

Not long after getting into JD comics and reading about Block wars and Block rage and such, I moved into a tower block… how the imagination started to run when certain neighbours began arguing and fighting!!

Oh thanks for that TVTA….I live on the top floor of a tower block! I get great views of the Outer Rim of the UK but I’m gonna have nightmares about Tower Block Massacres and such. I’m glad I have a lightsaber!

I still can’t believe how bad that movie was… anyhoo, those figures are cool. Somewhat garish… and the bad guys are freaky!

Yes. Many bad points. Shame, as the sets, colour and effects were all very good.
I love the figures… they have a sort of perfect comic book vibe to them… brash and a bit goofy. And garish – as you rightly say!
