Greetings vintage mates. It’s the first time this year our local monthly flea market has been open during the various lockdown and curfew stages here. This morning I was very pleased to pick up eight French pressings of vinyl singles released between the mid 1970s to mid 1980s – for less than the price of a cup of fresh espresso and a croissant!
The discs are all minty mint, and the picture sleeves are in decent condition. A winning morning I reckon π

As always, thanks for looking π
Did you know that Nena is suffering a career downfall? She has been amongst those celebreties that don’t really believe in Corona. She really shot herself in the foot.

I didn’t know that. I read a report, just, about one of her concerts recently when she got into trouble for encouraging concert-goers to disregard social-distancing βboxesβ and gather before the stage.
It’s complicated when it’s possible to be say pro mask but anti vax, or pro mask and pro vax but then anti health passport, or any combination of these or just flat out anti everything… and whichever you are you’re likely to upset any number of people.

You are probably right. At least our downfalls aren’t public on TV and in the papers …

I noticed the tune from 99 red balloons as a background to an advert the other day. No idea what the advert was for but Nena keeps popping into my head now.

Cheers Steve, it’s a class tune isn’t it. One that was all over the airwaves back in day and still, as you say, keeps popping up.

Thanks 2loud. It felt good the moment I started to flip through the box, and up turned The Police! Regatta De Blanc was the first album I bought as a kid, and Walking On The Moon was played all over the UK radio. Just that alone was a treat to find, the others really cool too!

That is doubly cool then. I love finding those pieces that take me back to my early albums.

Thanks, D. It’s been a while since they’ve run it. Was a bit like a kid in a candy store when I turned up and saw it was open π

Hi TVTA, aah! You spin me right round! Yes I had Buggles’ “Video killed the Radio Star” in that exact sleeve. I also had a nice copy of Middle of the Road’s “Chirpy Chirpy, Cheep Cheep” on red vinyl…sadly again it was lost (or thrown out by my parents – not sure). I just love the crackle and hiss of vinyl, it just makes the recordings feel “warmer” and more human rather than the sterile factory produced “hits” nowadays. Great haul and happy listening!

Thanks, FT, was very pleased to nab these goodies. Will go again, as a couple of years ago I picked up about a dozen or so singles at the same market. Then before that at another market I scored some cool vinyl albums. The fun, as always, is in the hunt and finding something good!

Well if you happen to find a copy of “A Night at the Opera” on white vinyl….I’ll have it from you! Happy hunting.

Feeling vintage too, Chris. (so long as we’re not feeling ancient just yet, eh!) π
