Produced by Galoob Toys in 1987 and currently owned by Hasbro, Micro Machines is a line of miniature scale vehicles and play sets. As well as producing their own vehicles Galoob held licenses for well-known TV and film franchises such as Star Trek, Star Wars, James Bond, Power Rangers and MIB, as well as producing a series of Rockinβ Wheels sets that featured the touring vehicles of famous bands such as AC/DC, Deep Purple and others.
TVTA is pleased to present selected new scans from an interesting Micro Machines catalogue I recently acquired: a 1990/91 unstamped dealer catalogue. It’s licensed to Ideal Toys from Lewis Galoob Toys, and was aimed at the French-speaking market. (This is my earliest so far catalogue for Micro Machines; the others can be seen in my post here)

There was a lot of imagination at play when designing these. Brilliant to find this catalogue among a Matchbox, Corgi and Bburago lot I picked up π

I’ll take the van, with the hidden missiles in back!

That’s a good choice! I’ll take the X-Ray machines – they look like ghosts.

Hi TVTA, I kinda like the vehicles with an interior – that is some serious detailing. I’ve got about half a dozen or so of the Star Wars starship packs but none of these classic packs.

Hi FT. I have some ads for the Star Wars line, really cool sets.

Hi there, I wouldn’t have doubted that for a moment! The” Starships” packs are cool but they do tend to lead to you getting duplicates of certain ships when you buy a double pack then have to buy another to get a ship you are missing. Sneaky Sith styled marketing if you ask me. At least the car and earthbound vehicle packs didn’t “Force” you to buy duplicates as often.

…. and it sure is micro! The smallest toy I ever had, and loved was my Troll Doll. I made lots and lots of outfits for it.
Hey! A toy company in Toronto (Spin Master) just bought the rights to Rubik’s Cube for $65 million Canadian $$$$. Crazy!

Cool! I remember the troll dolls. As for Rubik’s Cube – what a sensation that was, and all its derivatives. Not surprised it just sold for top $$$s then. Could never solve it myself, and was pleased if I managed to get just one side done π

Lol! I never even got 1 side done. As the reporter said ” this maddening multi-coloured cube”.
