About Rock Cards

In 1991, the Brokum Trading Card company marketed a collectable set of heavy metal and rock band trading cards and unleashed it to the headbanging public. Cards came in random packs of 13 and featured many famous bands of the 1980s along with some class acts from the 70s. The front of each card showed a full colour photograph of the band or band member, while the back showed an additional photo along with information and stats.

Big thanks to my Canadian mate and fellow WP blogger, Resa, over at Graffiti Lux Art & More who sent me these awesome trading cards. Resa, you rock! \m/

Coming next in our Rock Cards series:

Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Exodus, Testament, Skid Row, Posion, and more!

  1. Hi TVTA, great collection of cards. I listened to AC/DC and Iron Maiden a bit in the past (Bruce Dickinson is a legend and fully qualified airline pilot – he flew Boeing 757s for Astraeus Airlines and flew Ed-Force One, Maiden’s own specially painted tour plane!)
The past couple of years I have been to see a tribute act called “The Classic Rock Show” in the UK that covers all of the big rock bands (An A to Z of rock – AC/DC to Zeppelin). Every time I have seen them perform it was a monster night!

      • It’s always good to have good connections! I could never get full sets of trading cards as my parents didn’t like me doing “swappsies” as they said it could lead to arguments and fights over the terms of the swaps made. Yet they let me buy packs of stickers and cards in the first place – oh well!
(Hope you stay well and just to let you know the UK has extended my stay at home for another three weeks!)

      • Hi again, My parents had mixed thinking about a lot of things like “swapsies” or trading toys etc – my brothers could do what they wanted but not me!
On the health and safety front I’m doing quite well at this social distancing – I haven’t left my cave since March the 11th. I think I am getting the hang of it (though to be honest I never went out much anyway as you know) Stay well and chat soon.

Anyway, there is no one better than you to have inherited these cards!!!!!
I love this post.. I love all these rocking dudes, the music, and although he is a bit before the time, I am thrilled Alice Cooper was honoured along with the rest of the pack!

    • No worries, you sent me a massive lot of the collection – leaving me the fun now of hunting down the remaining ones. There are lots of them online, plus some nice display boxes I saw which I have my eye on. I still have another post’s worth of cards left from your original lot yet! All scanned, just need cropping 🙂 Watch this space for more Rock Cards goodness!
