I am looking for replacement parts for an Ertl 1954 GMC Tractor Trailer (Ace Hardware). I need two front axles with wheels, damaged in shipment which broke off both wheels. Need two sets. Any ideas where to locate. Looking everywhere. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi. Ebay and other online auction sites is the best bet – maybe you can find a beater model and take the parts from that? Or, search for any die-cast forums/FB pages to see if the members there can you point you in the right direction. Good luck.

Hi TVTA, I had a few farmyard tractor models when I was younger but they were Dinky Toy versions. However I think you have identified which tractor I had as the Fordson Super Major Tractor. I loved that model just because it was so distinctive in blue with the red wheels.
And on an aviation theme I would have liked a few of the barnyard buildings (the flat roofed 424060 and 424100 models) as they would make good airfield hangars/outbuildings for my aircraft models. Another great collection.

Hi FT. Thanks, and yes, that Fordson is a nice model. I wasn’t aware Ertl made so many farm toys until I saw the catalogues. Such nice models all!
As a kid, I had the big bucket of plastic farm animals complete with animals, a playmat, trees, clip-togther fences, hay stacks, a couple of buildings, and off-scale some plastic tractors. It was Made in Hong Kong stuff but of decent quality, and it lasted years and years! Plus, I had a few of the more expensive Britains farm animals to add to it.
When I think back, I got a lot of play value from that bucket of farm animals!

Hi TVTA, I recall those Britain’s toys, they were also top notch regarding details. I had a Massey Ferguson tractor and it had a cantilever hitching mount on the rear to attach trailers or other machinery. But was was amazing was the detail inside the driver’s cab, the dashboard was even painted with little dots to replicate the instruments and lights.

Yes, Britains made good on the details, also with their soldiers. I had the US civil war sets, 7th Cavalry, and German soldiers. Wish I still had them. A friend has the Britains space and alien sets – they are too cool!

I grew up in the prairies, and I always liked the tractors on my uncle’s farm.
The men who drove them looked mighty impressive!

I would love to! They’re pretty impressive manchines. The last wedding I went to was in the countryside, and the groom and his best men turned up on a farm tractor with them sitting in a trailer behind. The bride and her maids turned up in VW camper van. Great to see.

Wow that’s cool one of my grandpa’s farmer friends past away recently and there was a big parade of 53 tractors from all sizes and all ages.

Farm sets seem to be one of those toys that have been around for years and stay popular. I had hours of fun with my childhood bucket of plastic farm animals.
