Last night I went to see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This post is not a review, it’s more a showpiece for some of the advertising and promotions concerning the movie. I will say, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed this final instalment of a film franchise that’s been there with me since I was a child. In many ways TROS serves as a fine tribute to the ‘best of Star Wars’. It’s been quite a journey!
So, onto the few promotions I’ve gathered for the film here in France. Besides print adverts, there is the Premiere film magazine cover, a Nestlé cereal competition, cinema exclusive plastic soda cups and a cool metal popcorn bucket, Actimel yoghurt pots, and I’ve included my Japanese chirashi posters.

Thanks for looking. If you get chance to see the film, I hope you enjoy it 🙂
I got a load of swag from my local Odeon. The red First Order variation of the metal popcorn bucket, a Kylo helmet drinks cup, and a ton of freebie mini posters and a 12-page Odeon exclusive A4 photo book full of rare pics from the entire saga. Only paid £4 for everything!

Oh wow, you scored an amazing haul there! Didn’t know there is a popcorn bucket variation – they’re pretty solid aren’t they, embossed and with cool graphics. Love mine. Cool too you got posters and paperwork… I miss the days when cinemas gave out free posters and postcards in the lobby. Thanks for sharing your list here 🙂

The Japanese posters are always great… and I like the French ad. I’m not particularly excited by this latest instalment, but I will go see it in January!

Cheers J. I wasn’t expecting very much from the film but was surprised at how much I enjoyed it in the end.

My expectations are very low. Pretty much non-existent, so hopefully I’ll enjoy it a fair bit too!

OK TVTA, I’m going to have to move to where you live! I never saw a thing in the lead up to TROS! (Well maybe a magazine cover here or there, that was it!)That popcorn bucket is just…..and those cups are like the ones I mentioned in our email except for the ones I saw at my cinema had figurine toppers on the lids. great collection and thanks for sharing as always.

Thanks FT. Yes, that bucket is rather special. Would loved to have got hold of some of the cups with toppers on though!

Those cups were £1.99 each and I’m not sure if that was the filled price or the price to buy them empty!

Interesting. At my cinema they had multiple popcorn and drinks deals, so depending on what you bought you could end up with any number of freebies. I saw they had a Kylo Ren cup too, and guess they must have had at least one of the droids.

To be honest the lid toppers weren’t that great, the likeness of Kylo Ren was really bad – just a pale face with a few dots of paint for the eyes and brows. I think they were just chintz to say “I saw the film and got this cup”. Your popcorn bucket is light years better. All the snacks and confectionery were the cinema’s own regular deals and prices.

Reminds me of some of the fast food restaurant toys – very dodgy at times, though sometimes quite cool. Still, nothing could ever be as bad as Kenner’s Power of the Force 90s pumped up muscle bound steroid figures, featuring the infamous ‘Monkey Leia’. 😮

Argh! Power of the Force! Yes I wasn’t very impressed with those, however I didn’t see the Leia figure you mention. I do remember the spacecraft looked all squat and fat like cartoon caricatures.

Snap, I went to see The Rise of Skywalker as well, and enjoyed it too! Wow, this is a great collection of adverts and promotional items for this latest instalment of the Star Wars saga! 🙂

Though I’ve never seen a single Star Wars film (takes cover) this is some eye-catching memorabilia – I feel like even I’d have a hard time parting with those yoghurt pots, and the popcorn bucket is just crazy cool.

Cheers Jacob. Yeah, that popcorn bucket is pretty cool! At the moment it’s full of sweets for Christmas 🙂
