Brumm is an Italian toy manufacturer formed in the early 1970s. The company specialises in miniature plastic and die cast vehicles from a bygone age, such as steam-powered transport, horse-drawn carriages, old fire engines, and vintage road and racing cars.

These are marvellous! Loads of detail and very unusual… when I was a kid, I’d visit loads of stalls at the local market and shops when visiting my grandparents, but I never seen anything like these before.

Yes, as well as producing the typical sports cars it seems Brumm gained a fine reputation for being just about the only company to produce toy horse and carriages and steam-powered vehicles like that. They did a very good job too, those carriages are delightful.

Hi TVTA, it’s a good job my mother-in-law hasn’t seen this post – she loves all those horse and carriage figurines and models. Anything horse related and she wants it. Mind you I kinda like the look of those old Formula 1 race cars. The drivers of those cars were real racers. Another great collection.
p.s. When I saw Brumm I thought you may have been referring to your Birmingham roots 😀

Ah, Brum – Brummagem – Birmingham – Yes!! But did you know about the 90s children’s TV series called ‘Brum’ about a little yellow vintage car that solved crimes? It was set in Birmingham, and narrated by fellow Brummie Toyah Wilcox (who I once met 🥰😍😎 at a music awards ceremony). The Brum TV show was produced by Ragdoll Productions, which also made Rosie and Jim, Teletubbies, Tots TV and others.
I’m kinda pleased now there is an Italian ‘Brumm’ to add to the mix of brumming things, plus cars go brummmm! 😀🚗🚙🚘🏎🛺🚕🚌🚐🚛🚜

Hi again, yes I was aware of the little car Brum….and here is a little known fact for you…
Brum was built and operated by the same gentleman that was responsible for “Dusty Bin” of the TV quiz show 3-2-1! hosted by Ted Rogers!
And I think if memory serves me, the three wheeled race cars were probably manufactured by Morgan. The company is still in existence and hand build bespoke wooden framed cars.

No, I was rubbish at solving those cryptic clues on 3-2-1. It was an interesting show, though I much preferred Bullseye – even if it was a a bit rickety and on the cheap end, but as Jim might probably say so himself… it was marvellous!

It’s the first time I’ve found paperwork for the Brumm line, and I always thought they made die cast cars only – had no idea they made steam power vehicles, horses and carriages. Totally agree, it’s a most charming collection!
