Today’s post title sounds like a cool name for some 70s experimental psychedelic rock band. No. The Mutant Green Blob is one of those gunge/slime toys that were all the rage in the 1980s and 90s, and The Green Machine is a pretty cool-looking three wheel low rider child’s bike from 1976. OK Mutant, show us what you can do!
It’s the hottest ride in town…
Thanks for looking š
LOVED my Big Wheel and just made a video on Green Machine and its little brother. https://www.youtube.com/c/SeizethePlay

I remember Mutant Green Blob, but The Green Machine is new to me. Looks like a nifty bike thingy that would be involved in races these days.

Well, I almost included a 3rd ad – Fruit Pie Hulk and the Green Thumb – which also sounds like a cool psychedelic band š

I don’t remember either of these toys. However, The Mutant Green Blob sort of reminds me of Silly Putty. Do you remember that? xx

Ah yes, Silly Putty. I think it’s very similar to that! There was also slime toys you could throw at walls and windows, and it would creep down without falling off.

Hello TVTA and Spira, WOW the Green Machine! I can reliably inform you that they were still being produced up till about 5 years ago. Mrs Tyeth’s friend has two kids and they have one of the modern day versions and I got to try it out. The thing is insane and fantastic for doing skidding and drifting tricks! Oh and I was about 38 years old when I tested it out (let alone being 8,9 or 10).

Hats off to you sir! I bet you drifted the Force out of it!!
Well, someone has to show the kids how it’s done!

Hello again, the Green Machine is very “twitchy” and tends to oversteer, so the back of the cart tries to swing around faster than the front. Also the fact it only has one front wheel means you have to lean into corners when turning or you could flip. Once you get the hang of it though it’s more fun than a conventional Go-Kart or soapbox cart!
Oh and always use a safety crash helmet and pads!

Hi! Yes, you drive it like a motorcycle but you sit in a cart position. I guess it’s one of the things one buys for his kids but ends up having a blast himself š

That’s brilliant they’re still making rides like that – and even more brilliant you got to have go on one!

Wow, never seen the Green Machine before. It would be awesome now, let alone 1976!

Agree! It’s like a weird cross between a trike and a go-cart. We made our own go-carts as kids, out of old pram wheels, wire, rope and fruit boxes. Highly dangerous things š
