I’d like to dedicate this post to the talented comic book artist Ron Smith, who passed away last week, aged 94. Ron worked on many British comic titles like Hotspur, The Wizard, The Topper, The Dandy, The Beezer, The Victor, and Warlord, but he will always be most famously remembered for his prolific work on Judge Dredd. The last three covers are by Ron Smith.

Great post!! Love all of the covers. Adore the Silver Surfer & Wonder Woman and Superman kissing the best! Oh, Starsky and Hutch is a hoot. HOOT!

Thanks Resa. The ad of Superman and Wonder Woman kissing really caught my eye too. And I used to love watching Starsky and Hutch.

Some great comic book covers there, my faves are Daredevil and the Incredible Hulk! I have that Batman movie adaptation somewhere as well, nice cover for that one too. As I remember it was quite a faithful take on the movie. Great to see some Phantom as well, always nice to see these old classic heroes 🙂

Yep, the Batman movie adaption is faithful and has great art. I was pleased to add some Phantom, the 1972 French album I have has some cool reprints of covers from the 1940s.

The Batman movie adaptation was really good. Sometimes film versions in comics dont always translate very well, but in this instance it worked. The Phantom is such a great hero form the 40’s era of comics, brilliant fun 🙂

Man, that Hulk (311) is incredible. Such a striking image.
The Batman Black & White stuff is exceptional, too.

Yep, that Hulk N°311 cover is pretty dark isn’t it.
As for the Batman Black and White… such a brilliant comic with lots of variation in style from the creators.

So much to enjoy here. I recognise that Batman ’89 cover from the Commodore 64 version of the (incredibly difficult) game – it was used for the loading screen. Now I know where it came from!

That’s cool the same image was used for a Commodore 64 game. We had the Commodore and I would have loved to have played Batman on it.

Check out the music for it, if you haven’t heard it. It’s fantastic!

What a cool little track! Love it, thanks for sharing it here 🙂

You’re welcome. 🙂 Track 2 for Axis Chemical is hugely nostalgic. What I really like is that the game was ported across the various computers of the time, so there are a few variations of each track.
