She-Ra: Princess of Power is a 1985 animated TV series and toy line from Filmation and Mattel. She-Ra’s birth name is Princess Adora. She is the long-lost twin of Prince Adam (He-Man) and her adventures are set in the same timeline as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. She-Ra: Princess of Power aired for 93 episodes across three seasons between 1985 and 1987, including an animated film He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword. In 2018 the series was rebooted as She-Ra and the Princesses of Power for the Netflix channel.

Cheers Michael. I’m kind of used to seeing He-Man adverts now as I have lots in the collection, but when I saw the She-Ra ones I got all excited! Great to add her at last! Have you seen the new She-Ra animation on Netflix yet? I haven’t seen it but it’s had good reviews.

I haven’t watched it yet myself. I’ve talked to a few people who’ve seen it and they’ve only had good things to say. I’d planned on trying some of it over my Christmas break but that time all went to reading and the ‘Doctor Who’ marathon – not that I’m complaining :). I hope to check it out soon though.

Yes, she’s cool, and I think her storyline is a great fit into the Masters of the Universe world. I don’t have Netflix currently, or else I’d watch the recent reboot series which has had very good reviews so far.

Hi TVTA, I remember She-Ra and He-Man. I think He-man had a larger share of airtime here in the UK though (but that could be down to how many episodes of each were made). She-Ra had a similar sword to He-Man called the “Sword of Protection” and at first I thought it was the second half of He-Man’s “Sword of Power/Grayskull” but apparently She-Ra’s weapon was a cloned version forged by the Goddess of Grayskull.

Hi FT. I only ever caught a couple of episodes myself. It’s clever how Filmation and Mattel made She-Ra’s backstory fit with the MOTU story, with the aim of not only creating a new cartoon series but a toy line aimed at girls.
