“If this one doesn’t scare you… you’re already dead!”
Only 50 days to Halloween!
As Halloween creeps its way closer TVTA sneaks in two Japanese Chirashi movie posters for the cult classic horror franchise Phantasm. Enjoy!
Phantasm. 1979.
Phantasm II. 1988.
Did we mention Halloween is one of TVTA’s favourite annual events?
Look out for our next special Halloween post!
Silver balls, eh? Who would have thunk it?
My favourite Halloweeners: Halloween, Scream, and Dawn of the Dead.

Hi J. Thanks for joining in the fun. Top choices there. What did you think of the Dawn of the Dead remake? Although I love the original best I thought the remake was brilliant.

It’s more of a straight up zombie flick, than Romero’s, but I actually enjoyed it an awfy lot.

Black Roses was the first movie that I designed the costumes for! Carmine Appice was the drummer in the EVIL BAND!

That is so cool! Bet that was some experience. I had the pleasure of meeting Carmine’s younger brother Vinny at a concert once when he played for Dio and we chatted drums for a short while. A gent. You must let me know what other films you’ve designed for. Now I’ll go back to the trailer and check out the costumes.

My wife is more of a horror fan than me but I always like seeing the visuals for posters, etc. We tend to watch the various Halloweens, Lost Boys, The Thing, Poltergeist and I have a soft spot for Critters. lol

Thanks Airlandia. The Lost Boys and Poltergeist are top movies. I have a Japanese ad for Poltergeist coming soon! Critters is good fun.

I couldn’t resist the poster for the first one with its swirly purple design, quite pretty at first, then when you look into the ball and see some of the eyes and the graveyard…

Paul, what are your favourite top 3 films to watch at Halloween?

That’s a tough one, I like so many, but my favourites for Halloween are John Carpenter’s The Thing, Halloween, and Night of the Demon. Those are some of my favourite horror movies 🙂

Halloween is classic. Haven’t seen Night of the Demon – is it the 1950s or the 1980 one?

Night of the Demon is the 1950’s version, its a really atmospheric film. I think in the states it was called Curse of the Demon. Great film, well worth checking out. Carpenter’s original Halloween film is a must see as well. Even though I’ve seen it loads of times it still makes me jump LOL 🙂

I always hesitate before putting The Thing before Halloween, but The Thing is just so mental it always shades it for me in the Carpenter films. (I also like The Fog and Christine).

Agreed. Both are great films, I think The Thing just has the edge for me, as the effects are so impressive. I love the Fog as well, such a creepy film, and Christine is also good.

YES! Halloween is approaching. It’s a big fave of mine, too.
I remember watching the first Phantasm on video, rented from the local, dodgy corner video store near my house. Don’t remember too much of it but those silver balls freaked me out!
What are your top 3 movies to watch at Halloween?

The silver balls were such a good horror addition! My top 3 movies to watch at Halloween? Great question, and not so easy to answer. How about: 1, The Shining. 2, Dawn of the Dead. 3, The Thing. What are your top 3?

Nice choices! It’s hard to decide but I will go with 1. Nightmare on Elm Street (the original); 2. Lost Boys; 3. The Thing
