Following yesterday’s big toy news story of Hasbro acquiring the Power Rangers franchise for $522 million, The Vintage Toy Advertiser is pleased to welcome the Rangers to our categories in what we hope will be a growing selection of toy and merchandise ads that have covered the franchise over the past twenty five years. We actually had this post prepped up in our editing suite last weekend for an upcoming publication (we were holding out on a few incoming ads), but are thrilled to ‘power up’ and publish it today on the back of the Hasbro announcement. Go go go …
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Power Rangers is an American superhero TV and film franchise adapted from the Japanese series Super Sentai. The first Power Rangers TV series was Mighty Morphin Power Rangers with its debut broadcast in 1993. The show became a huge success and spawned a long line of toys, video games, books, comics and other merchandise. To date three films have been released in 1995, 1997 and 2017. TVTA is pleased to present a selection of toy and merchandise ads that have covered the franchise.
As a father of two young boys in the early 90s, I had to get some of this stuff for Christmas and birthdays.

Wow! 25 years! I couldn’t tell you the first thing about it… other than there’s a red Ranger (my nephew likes them). Not a particularly eye catching toy, though…

I used to watch the show with my eldest son and more recently youngest son. I had some figures once from the Bandai company. They were pretty cool but I ended up swapping them for some Star Wars figures.

That sounds like a pretty good swap!

Hello TVTA, I agree with airlandia – 25yrs old? I feel really old now! I like the Falcon Wing, though I don’t remember seeing it on TV, however it does remind me of a US B2 Stealth Bomber!
And the first logo may have been “ugly” but they are colourful bunch! Thanks.

I tried to find some images online of the Falcon Wing but came up with nothing like the pic I showed. The Micro-Machines set looks good too, and that clock radio.

Now I have a bit more time on my hands I will have a look around the net and see if I can find some images for you. It’s a good trick to look on fansites like Wookiedia for Star Wars as an example but there should be some Power Ranger fansites too. I’ve seen the clock radio recently!

Whew, their first logo was ugly! I can’t believe they’re 25 years old, I’m feeling a little old myself now…

I know, where does that time go? Yep, that logo is pretty clunky and good job they improved it later.
