I struggled to find any information about these figures which appeared during the 1970s. Play Flixies are similar to Playmobil but with flexible / bendable limbs. Characters came with accessories and included cowboys and indians, construction workers, emergency service personnel and astronauts. If anyone knows any more info please let me know. Below is a Danish advert from 1976.
Hello YMCA….sorry I mean TVTA! It is a catchy tune. These figures are intriguing and indeed similar to Playmobil. Maybe the limbs were a weak point in their design which is why Playmobil were solid plastic?

Hi FT. Now I’m singing: ‘It’s fun to stay at the T.V.T.A, it’s fun to stay at the T.V.T.A’ 🙂
I wonder if Play Flixies inspired in some way the Star Wars early 90s Bend-Ems figures??

Quite probably, they could also have inspired the WWE range of figures too. And I think there was another toy called “Stretch Anderson” but these weren’t 3.75 inch figures. And sorry about the singing. 🙂

I didn’t know about the WWE figures. It’s one line I need to get some ads for. Are you thinking of ‘Stretch Armstrong’? I have a nice post about this character here: https://thevintagetoyadvertiser.org/category/stretch-armstrong/

Yes Stretch Armstrong! I was just about to correct myself but it seems either my laptop is having issues or WordPress is, When I try to load the Reader page none of the recent blog posts appear, just blank placeholders that faintly flash. That’s why it’s taking awhile for me to reply!

WP is so cranky lately. Pages today are taking an age to load.

Ah thanks for the confirmation. I was worried my computer was failing. I just had a look at Stretch Armstrong and you are correct (though I was referring to the updated version) I also saw those fantastic TCR slotless racing track sets…those were above and beyond any Scalextric set. I had the basic TCR figure 8 set with the tilting jump, jam cars and I purchased a pair of extra Peugot 205 GTi rally car models. Awesome!

Hi again FT, I didn’t manage to get WWE ads but did find some really cool WWC ads by Galoob. New post: https://thevintagetoyadvertiser.org/2018/01/25/wcw-action-figures/

These toys are not familiar to me, but with the combination of police officer, cowboy, indian, and construction worker, perhaps they inspired the 1970s disco group the Village People.

Haha, yes. They just needed the army guy and the guy in leather for the full set 🙂

Wow! What a flashback! I’m sure I had one of these as a child.

As soon as saw the ad they looked familiar to me, though I don’t think I had any. Maybe some friends did, or we had them at school for toys and games play when it was raining during break.

Ha! Play Flexies! I bought my first one in March 1978 and bought them until 1980. I have a tin of them. I will make a video soon for YouTube
