Time for some cool Playmo adverts from Italy. These adverts would have appeared in numerous comics and magazines during the late 1970s and early 1980s. It’s good to see some of the aviation line of toys as well as some great sets from Playmo’s extensive Wild West series. What I really like about some of these ads is the depiction of the packaging alongside the toys. Seeing those blue boxes brings back fond memories. I also like the impressive dioramas and photography, which for me is typical of Playmobil and their attention to detail when it came to advertising their products.
Big thanks to TVTA’s good friend Zerocal for sending me these scans. Please visit his excellent Playmobil site over at: Playvender.blogspot.com

How could you possibly not want these toys after ads like these! Playmobil knew what they were doing in the ad department. The Fort at the beginning of the post is excellent!!
Great stuff as usual!

Indeed. How cool would it have been to have worked in the Playmo ad dept back then? A lot of thought and time must have gone into the displays.

TOTALLY unrelated but I remember on particular comic book ad that I thought looked amazing untill I saw the real playset…It was the Lone Ranger western town playset. Ad looked incredible..in reality it was terrible..they must have used special effects on that one. Ad magic! Playmobil delivered every time though..no witchcraft from that company!

Interesting. There must have been a bit of photo trickery going on in some company products – though nowhere near as much as today with Photoshop type programmes. I also like some of the vintage Star Wars, MOTU and Lego ads for similar reasons to the Playmo attention to detail.
